About Sharon Chung

In 2022, Sharon Chung became the first Korean American elected to the General Assembly, as well as the first Democrat to represent Bloomington-Normal in the House of Representatives since 1982. She sits on the House Committees for Agriculture & Conservation, Counties & Townships, Health Care Licenses, and Higher Education. 

Before taking state office, Chung represented the residents of District 7 in the McClean County Board, where she served on the Land Use and Development, Health, and Justice Committees, focusing on improving transparency and accessibility to the county government. Chung is also a professional violist and violinist and has performed on numerous stages across Central Illinois.
